Mustard is highly useful for vitiated conditions of kapha and vata.

The Useful lrritant

Mustard, which is an irritant, has also proved medicinally useful. brown. All three exhibit almost the same irritant properties. It is this quality which encourages blood flow towards the surface in cases of rheumatism, sciatica, peritoritis, neuralgia and various internal inflammations.

Taken internally in small amounts-as is being done in our daily cooking (in tempering), it increases the appetite and stimulates the production of gastric juices.

AILMENT PRESCRIPTION
Stomach ache, stomach upset Mix equal quantities of mustard powder and rice flour. Add some water and boil until it reaches a paste-like consistency. Spread on a handkerchief and cover the affected parts when bearably hot.
Baldness Boil 1 teacup mustard oil with 4 tbsp henna leaves, gradually added. Filter and bottle. Massage on the bald patches regularly.

Grind the remains of tobacco smoked in hookah and add to boiling mustard oil. Cool and store. Massage on the bald patches regularly.
Headache mental tension

Mix equal quantities of mustard powder and rice flour. Add some water and boil until it reaches a paste-like consistency. Spread on a handkerchief and cover the affected parts when bearably hot.

Migraine Grind 1/2 tsp mustard seeds with 3 tsp water and strain. Instil 1 or 2 drops in nostrils.
Breathing problems due to chest-congestion, cough Grind 1/4 tsp seeds to a smooth paste. Mix with honey and eat.

Boils, skin eruptions Boil 1 teacup water. Add 2 tsp ground mustard and 1 tsp sugar candy. Allow it to cool. An oil-spill-like-skin that appearson the surface is skimmed off and applied on the affected areas.
Skin ailments Add 2 to 3 tbsp ground mustard in a bath tub of water and soak the affected parts.
